Milk Depot for Mother’s Milk Bank Northeast

Tree of Life is an official depot site for donors who are registered with Mother’s Milk Bank Northeast.

A milk depot is a community location where screened milk donos can drop off milk for a shipment to a milk bank.  The milk bank screens, pastuerizes, and tests the milk for dispensing primarily to premature and sick babies whose mothers do not have enough milk for them.  Maine Medical Center currently uses Mother’s Milk Bank Northeast donor milk as its standard of care in the NICU.

Just 1 ounce of human breast milk represents 3 meals for a preemie in the NICU and can greatly decrease the risk of babies developing both acute illneses, such as a life-threatening condition, necrotizing entercoloitis.  Human milk can decrease the risk of this condition by 79%.

At Tree of Life, we feel honored to be a part of a community of women who are eager to share the gift of their milk with other babies who are vulnerable during the most crucial time in their development.  Please consider helping the most fragile people in our population by sharing your oversupply of breast milk.  Interested in becoming a donor, call the staff at Mother’s Milk Bank Northeast at 617-527-6263 ext. 3.

To schedule a time to drop of milk if you are already a registered donor, call Tiffany at 207-846-4900 or email at info@treeoflifecare.com. Have your donor number ready when you contact us.
